Currently, we are seeking a Cartographer to enhance our capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate sources of rasterized nautical charts, ENC, digital hydrographic survey data, Notices to Mariners (NtM), orthorectified imagery, chart catalogs, and various Open Source or government-provided datasets to create project packages for internal or contracted production.
  • Compile or refresh maritime features and attributes for the SFH DNC/ENC portfolio utilizing ArcGIS-based Data Capture and Finishing Environment (DCAFE) workstations or ESRI-based Foundation GEOINT Modernization (FG MOD) production environment workstations.
  • Extract features from a variety of sources, including but not limited to rasterized nautical charts, ENC, digital hydrographic survey data, NtM, orthorectified imagery, and chart catalogs.
  • Develop Python scripts in ArcGIS to enhance the efficiency of the production workflow.

Basic Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of combined experience in the following areas: data editing in ESRI tools such as ArcMap or ArcGIS Pro, performing manual or automated data quality assessments, creating, editing, and manipulating shapefiles, geodatabases, and features, and utilizing ESRI Data Review Tools.
  • Must possess at least a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of demonstrated experience in cartographic finishing, feature extraction from maps, charts, or various imagery sources, and related experience.
  • Familiarity with NGA products and services.
  • Knowledge or experience with maritime navigation, data, products, or services.
  • Experience managing data in an ArcGIS Portal environment.
  • Experience working with geospatial data in a multi-user enterprise context.
  • Experience converting data across multiple formats, particularly standard MILSPEC, S-57, and shapefiles.
  • Understanding of cartographic generalization principles.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Must hold an active TS/SCI clearance.

Physical Requirements:

  • The individual in this role must be able to remain stationary for 50% of the time and occasionally move within the office to access files, office equipment, or communicate with colleagues and management.
