Sublimation Process Engineering Lead

Entegris is in search of a dedicated Sublimation Engineering Supervisor who excels in a dynamic setting where safety, quality, and ongoing enhancement are critical. This role involves leading a team of engineers focused on maintaining and advancing specialty chemical manufacturing processes utilized in semiconductor production. Our specialty chemicals empower clients to create high-performance semiconductor products. The primary responsibility of this position is to oversee the engineering team managing our Sublimation equipment, gloveboxes, and expansion initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster a "Safety First" culture by conducting audits on equipment, processes, and behaviors, and proposing/implementing solutions to identified risks.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of work cell equipment and processes to effectively support manufacturing operations.
- Guide the work direction within the work cell for a team comprising full-time and rotational engineers, technicians, co-ops, and interns.
- Provide regular coaching and feedback to your team, assisting with escalations as necessary, while ensuring individual growth through project involvement and formal education opportunities.
- Lead by example through personal technical contributions, completing projects, and directly supporting manufacturing alongside supervisory responsibilities.
- Collaborate with Production management to create improvement roadmaps and align your team’s efforts.
Additionally, your team will be tasked with:
- Driving continuous improvement projects both independently and in partnership with cross-functional teams, adhering to rigorous change control processes and utilizing statistical data analysis for qualification.
- Employing statistical process control tools and methodologies to pinpoint both proactive and reactive improvement opportunities, maintaining effective internal control limits, and negotiating limits with customer teams to ensure quality assurance while preserving manufacturability.
- Conducting failure analysis to determine root causes, developing and implementing corrective/preventative actions, and managing material disposition to address both internal and external non-conformances, collaborating with customer teams on reporting findings and action closures.
- Utilizing structured problem-solving tools such as 8D, 5 Why, RCA, and Fishbone to methodically address root causes and resolutions for product and process defects.
- Working with the CQE organization to assist with customer requests and audits.
- Maintaining and enhancing key process documentation, including work instructions, FMEAs, and control plans, and updating them as new failure modes or process changes arise. Responsible for managing critical master data in the ERP system, such as BOMs, routings, and material master information.
- Developing and/or maintaining target capacity data for equipment and processes to inform production planning and long-term strategic planning efforts.
- Using capacity data to identify bottlenecks and potential candidates for capacity expansion projects, scoping and executing these projects to completion.
- Supporting production by troubleshooting equipment or process failures, ensuring robust preventive maintenance plans and critical spare parts are identified and stocked.
- Effectively communicating across the organization (e.g., marketing, R&D, facilities, operations) to drive results and contribute to departmental direction in collaboration with team members and leadership.
- Persistently addressing high-impact issues and threats to manufacturing with urgency and integrity.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in chemical operations, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of high-volume manufacturing process equipment.
- Experience in transferring and/or scaling up new chemical manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and statistical data analysis for application in Qualification and Validation; experience with Minitab is a plus.
- Proven ability to lead structured problem-solving initiatives using tools such as 8D, FMEA, 5 Why, and RCA.
- Leadership skills to drive cross-functional project execution and problem-solving while fostering positive and collaborative working relationships.
- Ability to present technical data effectively to all organizational levels.
- Capability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and wear personal protective equipment as required.
- Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally for various engineering projects and escalations (less than 5%).
- Familiarity with handling hazardous materials.
- Experience in team management is preferred.
- Familiarity with sublimation manufacturing processes is preferred.
