Responsibilities- Communicate Effectively: Communicate with patients, family members, and other healthcare professionals to identify concerns and questions via phone triage.
- Patient Education: Educate patients on surgery preparation steps and expectations, ensuring they are well-informed and prepared for their procedures.
- Clinical Support: Assist physicians in the clinic and provide care as needed to patients, ensuring seamless and efficient care delivery.
- Post-Operative Care: Support patients during the post-operative recovery period, providing education and guidance to ensure a smooth recovery.
- Scheduling: Schedule patients into clinic schedules as needed, ensuring timely and efficient care delivery.
- Patient Advocacy: Serve as a patient advocate, ensuring the provider is informed of patient status and history, and facilitating collaborative discussions and review of case findings.
- Assessment and Ordering: Appropriately assess patient health, ranging from focused to comprehensive, and order pertinent diagnostic tests, procedures, and conservative therapies as directed by the provider.
- Documentation and Prescription: Enter pre-operative orders for surgical procedures and x-ray orders into the computer system, prescribe necessary medications as directed by the provider, and complete patient forms as needed.
- Communication and Collaboration: Work closely with Prior Authorization on appeals for surgical cases, and review and/or gather correspondence and patient reports as needed.
- Orthopedic Nursing Experience: Preferably 1-2 years of experience in orthopedic nursing.
- Active RN License: Must have an active RN license.
- Certification: Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) is required.
