We are seeking a skilled Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant to support the Occupational Therapist in delivering therapeutic interventions and procedures for children. The primary responsibilities of the Rehabilitation Therapy Assistant include aiding in the formulation of treatment strategies, executing routine tasks, documenting progress, and maintaining comprehensive records. This role is focused on assisting individuals in accomplishing the activities they need or desire through therapeutic practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing the daily living skills and abilities of children with physical, developmental, and emotional challenges.
- Assisting in the identification of suitable activities and the creation of treatment plans to promote independent functioning.
- Monitoring and documenting children's progress, behaviors, and attitudes, providing feedback to supervisors and suggesting modifications to treatment plans.
- Upholding a positive demeanor towards children and their treatment programs.
- Educating children and their families on home care programs, essential living skills, and the proper use of adaptive tools.
- Assisting children with dressing, grooming, and utilizing specialized grooming tools.
- Carrying out basic administrative duties, including managing phone calls and scheduling appointments.
- Performing routine activities, such as guiding patients through stretching exercises and instructing them on the use of specific therapeutic equipment.
- Utilizing various tools and equipment, such as lifts or pulleys, to assist children.
- Designing, fabricating, and repairing assistive devices, as well as modifying equipment and environments as needed.
- Adhering to established rules, regulations, and protocols.
Qualifications:
- Valid certification from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
- Current Occupational Therapy Assistant license.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and instructional abilities.
- Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
- Social awareness and persuasive communication skills.
- Physical endurance to assist and lift patients during therapeutic activities.
- Completion of Level II background screening.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- CPR Certification.
- Two professional references.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
- Professional resume required.
