Job Summary

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of county buildings, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors. This role involves performing a variety of tasks, including cleaning, disinfecting, and polishing surfaces, as well as maintaining equipment and supplies.

Key Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain buildings, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas
  • Operate heating and cooling systems, and perform minor repairs as needed
  • Supervise and assist other custodial staff, as required
  • Maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and inform supervisor of needs
  • Ensure security of buildings, including locking doors and turning off lights
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Criminal background check
  • Meet qualifications outlined in WV Code §18A-4-8b
  • Demonstrated competency in custodial work
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Working Conditions

The Custodian will work in a variety of environments, including classrooms, offices, restrooms, and common areas. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent interruptions and changing priorities. The Custodian will be required to lift and move heavy objects, and may be exposed to hazardous materials and conditions.
