Our students engage in rigorous instruction and performance opportunities, enhancing their musical skills while also developing critical social and emotional competencies. We provide a nurturing environment where students can explore their musical potential through various programs across multiple Chicago neighborhoods.
Position Summary
We are in search of skilled Percussion Educators to join our team. The selected candidates will lead small group sessions, offer private lessons, teach music theory, and direct ensembles.

- Instructional Duties (90%)
- Provide exceptional music instruction to students in grades 1-12, encompassing theory and composition.
- Serve as a dedicated mentor, guiding each student through their musical journey.
- Participate actively in faculty meetings, student performances, and assessments.
- Incorporate effective teaching strategies discussed in professional development sessions.
- Ensure high-quality instruction that promotes excellence in student performance.
- Administrative Duties (10%)
- Assess and report on students' musical and behavioral progress.
- Collaborate with families, administrative staff, and fellow educators.
- Maintain timely communication with the Program Manager and school personnel.
- Prepare lesson plans for any necessary absences.
- Supervise students during transitions and breaks.
- Exhibit professionalism and responsiveness in all interactions.
- Assist with additional projects as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in music education or performance, or equivalent experience.
- Strong musicianship, including proficiency in music theory and performance.
- Experience teaching percussion to children of varying ages and skill levels.
- Ability to connect with students from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Commitment to continuous learning and adapting teaching methods to meet student needs.
- Capacity to create a supportive and engaging learning environment.
- Willingness to travel as necessary for program activities.
- Self-motivated and able to thrive in a dynamic educational setting.
- Knowledge of diverse musical repertoire suitable for various age groups.
- Alignment with our mission and core values is essential.
Compensation
Hourly rates range based on the type of classes taught.
