Job Overview

As a Fiber Optic Installation Specialist, you will be responsible for executing various tasks related to the installation and maintenance of low voltage systems. Your expertise will ensure that all operations adhere to industry standards and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Fiber Splicing: Execute splicing of fiber optic cables, including both loose tube and ribbon types.
  • Splice Case Construction: Construct splice cases with attention to grounding, bonding, isolation, slack storage, and sealing.
  • Work Order Interpretation: Read and interpret work orders, specifications, and engineering drawings to determine the sequence of tasks.
  • Industry Standards Compliance: Perform all work in accordance with established industry standards.
  • BICSI Standards Familiarity: Understand and apply BICSI standards while following design engineers' instructions and maintaining project scope.
  • Telecom Facility Interpretation: Accurately interpret underground and aerial telecom facilities in records and maps, providing recommendations for construction methodologies.
  • Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate inside and outside plant records throughout the installation process.
  • Project Support: Participate in engineering, permitting, and construction processes to support project contracts.
  • Routine Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks as required.
  • Route Issue Recognition: Identify and repair route issues, including maintenance and cleanup tasks.
  • Connection Tasks: Connect wires and cables to terminals, attaching or detaching hardware as necessary.
  • Emergency Response: Respond to emergency situations requiring heavy construction capabilities.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work prioritizes the safety of customers and the public, complying with all governmental regulations.
  • Outdoor Work: Be prepared to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Documentation: Complete daily production reports and As-Built documentation on prints.
