Job Summary

We are looking for a talented GIS professional to lead the development and implementation of new and manage existing queries and automated scripts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in spatial analysis, database management, and GIS tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and implementation of new and manage existing queries and automated scripts.
  • Perform complex spatial analysis and database queries, developing and maintaining data layers and spatial data structures using GIS tools and relational databases.
  • Review assigned project requirements, and in conjunction with other staff, prioritize project needs, construct project goals, devise timelines, and make decisions concerning the distribution of project resources.
  • Research and resolve advanced GIS-related problems and areas of concern associated with digital mapping and database files, utilizing aerial photo interpretation, cadastral and street map analysis, and field research among other research techniques.
  • Assist the public and County staff in defining their mapping and geographic data needs.
  • Perform advanced GIS analysis using mapping and other related software tools.
  • Prepare complex custom maps for display from digital data using GIS mapping software and computer input/output devices.
  • Maintain and continuously update numerous relational databases containing geographic-related and other relevant data sets across multiple servers.
  • Utilize GPS receivers and data loggers to collect field data and post-process the results to the GIS.
  • Lead advanced processing (digitizing, programming/scripting, encoding, etc.) of various sources of information for inclusion in various County geographic and database files and maps.
  • Develop recommendations and solutions to the design and implementation of data input and output methodologies; data processing, manipulation, and analysis techniques; and data transfer and storage schemes.
  • Develop and recommend appropriate methods, procedures, and applications for the effective use of GIS technology in the production and maintenance of GIS data.
  • Assist in the development of requests for proposals and participate in the evaluation of responses and selection of vendors.
  • Assist in the development of management reports.
  • Contribute to the development of GIS standards, established methodologies, and practices.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong background in GIS, spatial analysis, and database management.
  • Experience with GIS tools and relational databases.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
