Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Petroleum Inspector to join our team at SGS. As a key member of our inspection team, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient transfer of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon or chemical cargo.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct physical sampling, measurement, and temperature checks of vessel tanks and shore tanks in accordance with company and API procedures.
  • Follow safety standards and perform job duties efficiently, working within defined technical processes and procedures.
  • Calculate and report quantities of bulk liquid or gaseous hydrocarbon transferred and perform full reconciliation.
  • Complete all required reports and forms using SGS proprietary systems.
  • Collaborate with client representatives, US Customs, vessel personnel, government agents, and shore facility personnel.
  • Maintain regular communication with business unit office staff regarding job status, problems, and concerns.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry, client, and SGS internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Adhere to the highest standards of ethics and safety practices, as outlined in the SGS Code of Integrity.
  • Assist with other branch duties as assigned, including back office support and housekeeping.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 6 months to 2 years of transferrable industry experience preferred.
  • Completion of internal Inspector Development Program Level preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) preferred.
  • International Federation of Inspection Agencies (IFIA) Certification preferred.
Working Conditions

This role requires frequent standing, moving, and use of hands. The ability to work effectively under pressure and perform multiple projects with different deadlines is essential.
