Job Overview

Position Title: Catholic Program Coordinator

Location: EIELSON AIR FORCE BASE, ALASKA

Employment Type: Part-time

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a role related to Catholic Religious Education or teaching, or two years of volunteer service in Catholic ministries.
  • Must obtain (or be willing to obtain within six months) a valid Catechist certificate from the Archdiocese of Military Services.
  • Must be in good standing with the Roman Catholic Church and have received the Sacraments of Confirmation.
  • Familiarity with Catholic religious education curricula, including mission, theology, Biblical interpretation, and age-appropriate materials is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in and attend the Catholic worship and religious programs at the Eielson Chapel.
  • Collaborate with the Catholic Chaplain and chapel volunteers to develop effective community and religious education programs for the local Catholic community.
  • Plan, oversee, and instruct Catholic Faith Formation programs, or coordinate volunteer teachers for classes at the chapel.
  • Organize and lead Baptism Preparation classes for individuals requesting child baptisms and those seeking to become Godparents.
  • Maintain electronic records of attendance, including names, dates, and rosters of all participants and volunteers for review.
  • Supervise all Catholic volunteer initiatives, including recruitment and training for roles such as teachers, lectors, and altar servers.
  • Keep minutes for the Catholic Parish Advisory Council (CPAC) and support worship services.
