Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pharmacist to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in providing pharmaceutical care to our patients, working collaboratively with healthcare professionals to achieve clinical outcomes and monitor progress.

Responsibilities
  • Prioritize collaboration and open communication between healthcare professionals and operate in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Foster a positive work culture centered on honesty, openness, and integrity.
  • Inspire and motivate members of the healthcare team by building department morale.
  • Strive to ensure the success of the team as a whole over personal success.
  • Effectively balance the responsibilities of the team and individual team members.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the development and achievement of common goals within the department and hospital system.
  • Facilitate continuous professional development through involvement in professional activities that enhance pharmacy practice and improve the patient care experience.
  • Encourage and provide constructive feedback to identify opportunities for improvement within the department.
  • Ensure the appropriate preparation and dispersal of medications in accordance with facility, state, and national laws and regulations.
  • Assure compliance with HIPAA, DNV, OSHA, and other state and federal regulations guiding healthcare.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures of UPH-DM.
  • Prioritize the importance of preventing errors, accidents, and infections within the workplace and report potential or actual concerns immediately.
Qualifications
  • B.S. Pharmacy with equivalent clinical experience. Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) preferred. Completion of an ASHP accredited PGY-1 pharmacy residency desirable.
  • Proficiency in navigating the electronic medical record. One or more years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons. Iowa Pharmacist license in good standing or eligible for licensure. Must attain a license to practice Pharmacy in Iowa within six months of employment. Must be directly supervised by a licensed pharmacist until Iowa Pharmacist license is obtained.
  • Must maintain current license to practice pharmacy in Iowa and be in good standing with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy Examiners. Board certification desirable.
