Position Summary

Brooklyn Bridge Park (BBP) encompasses an expansive 85-acre public space along the Brooklyn waterfront, dedicated to fostering connections between people, nature, and the environment through innovative and sustainable practices. We aim to enhance urban livability and promote a healthier community.

We are in search of a Mechanic to manage and provide maintenance services for all park machinery. This role involves performing skilled mechanical tasks on various park maintenance equipment, including but not limited to, Toro and Fairway club cars, snow removal apparatus, and park vehicles. The Mechanic will collaborate with the maintenance team to troubleshoot mechanical systems throughout the park.


Key Responsibilities
  • Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Evening or weekend work is not typically required unless necessitated by severe weather conditions.
  • Benefits include healthcare, paid time off, pension, and a 403B retirement plan.
  • Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in various park equipment, including diesel, electric, and gasoline-powered vehicles and tools.
  • Implement a thorough preventative maintenance program for all park machinery.
  • Train park operations staff on preventative maintenance and safe equipment usage.
  • Prioritize and manage equipment repair and maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct performance checks on equipment in the park and perform emergency repairs as needed.
  • Oversee the maintenance shop and storage area.
  • Communicate maintenance or repair needs to the Director of Facilities and relevant personnel.
  • Manage equipment inventory using Cartegraph, the park's asset management software.
  • Complete work orders in Cartegraph.
  • Maintain comprehensive records for equipment and parts inventory, repair costs, and preventative maintenance.
  • Support the broader maintenance team on larger projects.
