Key Responsibilities:

  • Stabilize and immobilize patients using proper techniques and equipment
  • Assess neurovascular status and report any deviations to registered nurses and physicians
  • Transport patients to various locations, including testing, admission/discharge, and interfacility transport
  • Collect patient specimens and assist mid-level providers and physicians with collecting, labeling, and transporting irretrievable specimens
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies to optimize patient care and treatment
  • Obtain 12-lead ECGs per physician order and provide ECGs to physicians for review
  • Monitor and report patients' progress towards expected outcomes and deviations to registered nurses
  • Provide wound care according to department clinical practice standards
  • Follow computer system and department operational procedures and training guidelines to obtain accurate demographic, diagnosis, and insurance information

Requirements:

  • EMT-related experience preferred
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • BLS and EMT-B certification; active on the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) or possess a current Virginia EMT License/Certification
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; computer skills
