We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Dayton. As a Childcare Teacher, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for young children to learn and grow.
Key Responsibilities- Lesson Planning and Implementation: Develop and implement weekly lesson plans that cater to the needs, interests, and developmental levels of children in the classroom.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with Lead Teachers, Site Administrators, and other staff members to ensure a cohesive and effective program.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of attendance, absenteeism, transitions, minor disciplines, and incidents for each child.
- Classroom Management: Ensure the appearance and management of the classroom and designated program areas meet high standards, including maintaining supplies, materials, and equipment in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Safety and Wellbeing: Conduct regular safety checks, report any broken or unsafe toys, and properly disinfect toys and equipment in accordance with state regulations.
- Program Compliance: Adhere to Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) guidelines and regulations.
- Parent Communication: Effectively communicate with parents through verbal and written reports, and conduct parent-teacher conferences as needed.
- Discipline and Reporting: Handle discipline promptly and in accordance with the stated discipline policy, and document and report any special needs or problems of individual children, staff, or parents.
- Teamwork and Flexibility: Demonstrate a willingness to fill in other classrooms when needed, attend parent events and family programs, and participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Early Childhood Education preferred.
- Experience: Six months of experience in the early childhood field strongly preferred.
