Job Summary

The Registration Specialist plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient patient experience. This individual is responsible for check-in, preregistration, registration, preadmission, and admission processes. Key responsibilities include obtaining accurate demographic information, adhering to compliance regulations, and ensuring timely and accurate processing of patient information.

Key Responsibilities
  • Obtain photo ID, insurance cards, signed forms, and orders (when applicable) and scan into the medical record at the time of registration/admission.
  • Work and maintain system work queues to ensure efficient processing of patient information.
  • Answer telephone calls, fax documents, scan files, and perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
  • Be cross-trained with System Scheduling, Authorization, and Referrals to assist as needed.
  • Collaborate with other personnel to ensure a smooth and timely flow of patients and information to maximize reimbursement for services.
  • Provide quality customer service and promote harmonious and efficient intra and interdepartmental relationships.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to the Mission, Vision, Values, and Philosophy of the department and Saint Francis Healthcare System.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Two years of experience in a business, billing, or healthcare scheduling/registration/admissions setting preferred.
  • Ability to proficiently utilize a computer and software programs is essential.
  • Must maintain professional and courteous manners in dealing with customers and staff in all manners of communication.
  • Must demonstrate appropriate and timely independent judgment.
