Job Title: School Counselor

Irving Independent School District is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated School Counselor to join our team. As a School Counselor, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic, personal, and social growth of our students.

Job Summary:

The School Counselor will provide a comprehensive guidance and counseling program to assist all students in maximizing their personal growth and development. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive program of guidance and counseling services based on the defined needs of the population served.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive guidance and counseling program that addresses the academic, personal, and social needs of students.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to students, as well as consultation to teachers and parents.
  • Assist teachers in the teaching of guidance-related curriculum and support the development of educational plans and career awareness.
  • Participate in the planning and evaluation of the school group standardized testing program and interpret test and other appraisal results.
  • Adhere to ethical and legal standards, as well as professional district standards, and maintain positive working relationships with other counselors and school personnel.
Requirements:
  • Master's Degree in School Counseling or a related field.
  • Valid Texas Teaching Certificate and School Counselor Certification.
  • Two years of teaching experience or school counseling experience as outlined by the Texas State Board of Education for out-of-state candidates.
Working Conditions:

The School Counselor will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent in-district and occasional in-state or national travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours may be required.
