Job Summary

This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of a water treatment plant, ensuring the delivery of safe and aesthetically pleasing water to the community. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of water treatment processes and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate the water plant and manage a shift, ensuring the efficient and effective treatment of water.
  • Monitor and report any operational deficiencies to the supervisor, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on plant equipment, including preventive maintenance and minor laboratory work.
  • Operate equipment such as tractors and trucks, as needed.
  • Answer telephone calls and dispatch emergency crews, as required.
  • Monitor and operate computers for alarms and proper operation of water plants.
Requirements
  • High school or general education degree (GED) from an accredited institution.
  • Ability to utilize computer technology software, report writing programs, and other required software and micro-computer equipment.
  • Possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Possess and maintain Class "C" Operators License issued by the FDEP.
  • First Aid and CPR/AED certification, or obtain within one (1) year of hire.
Working Conditions

The employee may work in an office environment or outside in various weather conditions. The employee may work in or with moving vehicles and/or equipment. The employee may also come in contact with heights, electrical energy, poor lighting, darkness, odors, and may be required to have legs, feet, or hands in water while on the job.

Lifting: Lift 75 Pounds and Over

Vision: 20/20 or Corrected to 20/100

Environment: Inside Work/Outside Work in Various Conditions

Hearing: Normal to Very High Noise Levels for Work Environment
