Job Description

This exciting opportunity is for a skilled Pit Master to join our dynamic team at Urban Roots Brewery LP. The successful candidate will work closely with our sous chef to ensure exceptional service and will report directly to our head and executive sous chefs to lead the team and maintain the highest standards of quality.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of the smoker, performing general preventive maintenance as required.
  • Prepare smoked meats according to recipes and specifications, adhering to the highest standards of quality and presentation.
  • Maintain the fire for the smoker, ensuring optimal temperatures and smoke levels for the perfect blend of flavors.
  • Anticipate and adjust to the needs for meat pars on the line, ensuring seamless service and minimizing waste.
  • Organize and rotate proteins, maintaining a clean and efficient storage system.
  • Taste and test all smoked meats, ensuring that every dish meets our high standards of quality and flavor.
  • Write prep lists and place orders for proteins, ensuring that our kitchen is always stocked and ready to meet the demands of our menu.
  • Create and organize recipes, continuously innovating and improving our menu offerings.
  • Coach and train pit crew members, providing guidance and support to ensure that every team member is equipped to deliver exceptional service.
Requirements and Qualifications

  • Full availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays, including flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

  • Extensive knowledge of proper food storage, holding, heating, cooling, and food handling procedures.

  • A growing knowledge of butchery and cooking, with a passion for innovation and creativity in the kitchen.
  • Works with speed and efficiency, while maintaining workplace safety and adhering to all health, safety, and personal hygiene policies and standards.
Estimated Salary: $24-$30 per hour, inclusive of tipsBenefits
