Polysomnography Specialist

The Polysomnography Technologist 3 plays a crucial role in the daily operations of the Sleep Laboratory. This position is responsible for monitoring and assessing Sleep Lab quality, policies, and procedures, as well as staff and equipment performance. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to educate patients and families about sleep disorders and treatments.
Key Responsibilities- Perform polysomnographic studies in a clinical setting, including oxygen and nasal continuous positive airway pressure titrations.
- Score studies and formulate reports for physician interpretation, documenting all pertinent patient events according to department policy.
- Communicate instructions, results, and relative information to patients, physicians, and family members.
- Calibrate and perform routine and troubleshooting maintenance on equipment, contacting manufacturers for repairs as needed.
- Consult regularly with the Medical Director regarding patient studies.
- Maintain standards for completeness of Continuous Quality Improvement and Quality Control measurements.
- Orient and train new Sleep Lab employees.
- Establish and implement performance improvements, including education and staff development.
- Communicate concerns and/or problems with possible solutions to the Department Manager or Director.
- Advanced knowledge of Polysomnographic Care modalities, therapies, equipment, and medications.
- Ability to read, write, and follow flow chart protocols as appropriate.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work under stressful conditions and maintain a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to maintain and troubleshoot audio and video equipment.
- Advanced computer skills, including data entry, information security, electronic medical documentation, handheld scanning, and email.

Qualifications- EDUCATION - Associate's or 2 years of work experience above the minimum qualification.
- EXPERIENCE - 3 Years of Experience.
- CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION - Basic Life Support (BLS) and Polysomnography Tech (POLYTECH).
