Job Title: After School Group Leader

We are seeking a highly motivated and mission-driven individual to join our team as an After School Group Leader at the Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges. As a Group Leader, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and caring environment for children in our School Age After Care program.

Job Summary:

The Group Leader is responsible for assisting the Site Supervisor in the day-to-day operations of the program site. This includes providing high-level supervision for children, leading or assisting with activities, and working as part of a team to ensure a safe and caring environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the safety of all children assigned to your group by following supervision standards and maintaining constant head counts.
  • Lead and support the implementation of program activities, including running or participating in CATCH, Healthy U, and providing homework support as assigned.
  • Follow YMCA protocols for dealing with First-Aid and emergency situations, and participate in monthly safety drills.
  • Use positive group management techniques and build professional relationships with children, their families, and school personnel.
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary program environment and promote Y Programs and Camps to families.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent, with a degree in Education preferred.
  • Basic understanding of youth development principles and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and take initiative, with a commitment to the purpose, mission, and goals of the YMCA.
  • First-Aid, CPR, and AED certification may be required.
