Job Summary

AmeriMed, a part of CommonSpirit Health at Home, is seeking a highly skilled Compounding Pharmacy Technician to join our team. As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective preparation of medications for our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, measure and compound medications, maintain patient records, and perform duties deemed acceptable by the State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Assist with the orientation and training of pharmacy personnel.
  • Bill insurance providers and follow up with providers as necessary.
  • Participate in on-call rotation.
  • Program or double-check IV pump settings for accuracy prior to delivery.
  • Complete yearly ACHC assessments of compounding standards successfully.
  • Prepare prescriptions for filling, check compounding records, gather necessary pharmaceuticals, stage prescriptions and products for pharmacist review, and compound prescriptions under direct supervision.
  • Clean and calibrate compounding equipment per manufacturer's guidelines and policy and procedures.
  • Perform sterile compounding per strict USP 797 guidelines and maintain up-to-date knowledge of USP 797 guidelines.
  • Communicate with patients about supply and delivery of medications.
  • Coordinate continuation or discontinuation of services, process refill prescriptions, and document in patient records.
  • Assist pharmacists in providing medication and other healthcare products to patients.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • State pharmacy technician licensure for Ohio.
  • Obtain national certification within 12 months of employment.
  • Compounding pharmacy technician experience, preferably with six months of sterile IV compounding experience.
  • Excellent customer service skills, math skills, communication skills, flexibility, and ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Self-directed with excellent time management skills and ability to work independently.
  • Working knowledge of medical technology.
  • Availability for full-time, regular daytime hours and ability to work on-call hours.
