Retail Operations Manager Job Description

Goodwill Southern California is a leading non-profit organization in Southern California, dedicated to providing employment opportunities and job training to individuals with barriers to employment. We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Retail Operations Manager to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the efficient operation of a Retail Store, Boutique, or Attended Donation Center (ADC), ensuring compliance with company standards and policies.
  • Supervise and train a team of Ambassadors to achieve sales, production, customer service, payroll, safety, and expense control goals.
  • Collaborate with Site Managers to achieve established standards and goals.
  • Ensure a safe work environment by maintaining a clean and safe environment, following all established company standard operating policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to de-escalation practices and proper procedures for loss prevention situations.
  • Identify and communicate concerns to the District Manager, seeking guidance when necessary.
  • Supervise and direct work, providing input on performance appraisals, recognizing and developing Ambassadors, addressing complaints, and resolving problems.
  • Monitor and maintain salesfloor, production area, structural, electrical, store equipment, landscaping, housekeeping, loss prevention, and safety to company standards.
  • Train and evaluate Ambassadors to process donated goods, ecommerce collectables, and other items, meeting quantity, quality, and key performance indicator (KPI) business goals.
Requirements:
  • 1-3 years of supervisory experience in a customer-focused management role.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; college degree helpful.
  • Ability to multitask projects of varying scope and complexity with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to share Goodwill's purpose with the public and ask for monetary donations and customer/donor information.
  • Bilingual in Spanish helpful.
  • Proficiency in using computers and other technology necessary to complete assigned activities.
  • Strong communication, training, developing, and people skills.
  • Demonstrated success with process accountability and multi-tasking.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Punctual and dependable attendance.
  • Free from alcohol and drug abuse.
  • Understanding of Goodwill's mission and values.
