Job Description:

Metas Solutions LLC is seeking an experienced Senior Java Web Application Developer to join our team. In this role, you will work with our organization to support CDC WONDER, a critical public health platform that disseminates public health-oriented data through a robust web application.

Responsibilities:

Implement improvements to the CDC WONDER web application, including modifying and maintaining complex HTML forms and Java server-side coding that creates and executes complex database queries. You will also manage supporting database objects and data, and develop new and existing features to support research and development efforts for new analytic measures and visualizations for the WONDER online databases.

Actively communicate with team members regarding assigned tasks, take ownership of tasks that may not have obvious technical solutions, and develop clear and actionable plans to complete them in a timely manner. You will also identify and refine acceptance criteria, and develop and perform unit tests, integration testing, and regression testing to support user acceptance for delivered code.

Requirements:

5+ years of related professional experience involving data-oriented analytic web applications, a Bachelor's or advanced degree in Computer Science or related field, and proven ability to engage with client team members and self-motivated to complete assigned tasks independently. You should also have excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills that enable communication with all levels of employees and management, and the ability to support public health professionals, statisticians, and data scientists. Additionally, you should have 5+ years of professional experience developing and supporting web applications implemented in Java, HTML, CSS, XML, and XSLT, and using ANT build processes and IDEs such as Eclipse or VSCode. Experience working with SQL based relational databases, preferably Microsoft SQL Server, that support web application development, and experience supporting SQL Server ETL processes are also required. Knowledge of Azure cloud services, containerization such as Docker, and Palantir Foundry are a strong plus.
