Job Responsibilities

The selected candidate will deliver expert technical repair assistance for a variety of security electronic systems within the designated facility. This role encompasses, but is not limited to, Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) systems, perimeter security systems, panic alarms, intrusion detection, PLC door controls, intercom systems, and other access control mechanisms. Responsibilities include system administration, performance oversight, hardware repairs, and providing comprehensive technical guidance related to the systems in operation at the facility. The technician will ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of security systems across the agency.

Inventory management will be a key aspect of this role, involving planning and procurement, while responding promptly to maintenance requests through a Total Maintenance System (TMS). The technician will also input data into the TMS for preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and inventory tracking. Additionally, there may be a supervisory component, overseeing inmate workers in the installation, upkeep, and repair of the facility's communication wiring infrastructure, cable television, and other non-security related systems. This position may require after-hours or emergency on-call support as necessary.

Essential Qualifications

Candidates must possess a High School Diploma along with relevant experience in the field. A solid understanding of electronics theory and practical application concerning electronic security systems is required. Familiarity with Ethernet Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networking as it relates to CCTV and electronic security systems is essential. Knowledge of access control systems utilizing commercially available components, relay logic, and custom Programmable Logic Control (PLC) systems is also necessary. Proficiency in computer systems from Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) through various Windows operating systems is expected. Candidates should be adept with diagnostic tools for troubleshooting, including Digital Multimeters (DMM), Oscilloscopes, and Network Cable Testers. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial for addressing complex electronic system issues.

Additional Considerations

Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of perimeter security and public address systems. Familiarity with electronics theory, including troubleshooting, calibration, testing procedures, and circuit analysis is advantageous. Candidates should also have a basic understanding of computers and peripheral devices. The ability to fabricate, modify, and perform component-level repairs on a variety of electronic instruments is preferred. Proficiency in reading and interpreting schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, flow charts, truth tables, and service manuals is beneficial. Knowledge of two-way radio systems is also a plus.
