The role of a Stepdown Registered Nurse (RN) involves delivering high-quality nursing care to patients transitioning from a higher level of care, such as an intensive care unit (ICU), to a stepdown unit. This unit serves as a crucial link between the ICU and a standard hospital floor.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and manage patients with complex medical conditions requiring close observation.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments as directed by physicians.
- Assess patient conditions and communicate any changes to the healthcare team.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including physicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Assist with diagnostic tests and procedures as needed.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with healthcare regulations.
- Educate patients and their families regarding conditions, treatments, and procedures.
- Support patients with daily living activities while ensuring a safe environment.
- Active RN license in the state of practice.
- 1-2 years of nursing experience in a stepdown or ICU setting.
- Strong understanding of pharmacology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Ability to care for patients of all ages with diverse health challenges.
- Excellent critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment.
This position is a contracted travel role, offering a competitive pay package based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week, with tax-free stipends to be determined.
