Switchboard Operator

We are seeking a highly skilled and customer-focused Switchboard Operator to join our team. As a Switchboard Operator, you will be responsible for operating telecommunications equipment, routing calls, and assisting in communicating and reporting emergency situations to the appropriate department.

1. Operate telecommunication equipment and route calls to the proper extensions.
2. Maintain contact with the ECC Police department and Operations and Maintenance department using a two-way radio.
3. Update and maintain computerized trouble logs, police logs, and telephone logs on a daily basis.
4. Assist with emergency situations through interaction with the ECC Police department and/or paramedics.
5. Monitor weather radio and fire alarm panel and report any problems to the necessary personnel.
6. Maintain required training, licensure and/or certification.
7. Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and adhere to applicable privacy laws.
8. Demonstrate sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
9. Maintain an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide back-up and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
10. Adhere to department guidelines for attendance and punctuality.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) with 1 year of switchboard experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
• Working skill in customer service.
