Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise all mechanical maintenance activities, including the repair and preventative maintenance of underground mining equipment.
- Determine maintenance priorities based on equipment criticality, production schedules, and safety considerations.
- Oversee the repair and maintenance of a wide range of mechanical equipment, including conveyors, crushers, drills, and other mining machinery.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety among the maintenance team.
- Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Manage spare parts inventory to ensure availability of critical components and minimize downtime.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and PM schedules.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost savings, and increased equipment reliability.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related mechanical discipline.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a maintenance supervisor in an industrial environment, preferably within the mining or similar heavy industrial sector.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, equipment repair, and preventative maintenance programs.
- Proven leadership abilities with experience in managing and developing maintenance teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues effectively.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
- Commitment to maintaining a safe working environment and promoting a safety-first culture.
Work Environment:
- Must be able to wear required PPE (steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, hard hat, safety harness and electrical safety equipment).
- Must be able to work safely in varying temperatures underground and outside as needed.
- Must be capable of lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling loads up to 50+ lbs.
- Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, bend, squat, and reach as required to work on equipment.
