Lighting Technician 3

Job Summary:

The selected candidate will be working for the National Accounts department within M.C. Dean, responsible for installing, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic lighting components. This role requires strong moral character, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work at heights up to 60 feet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic lighting components.
  • Install and mount lighting controls, devices, sensors, and components.
  • Operate aerial lifts and bucket trucks safely.
  • Test lighting systems and continuity of circuits in fixtures, using testing devices.
  • Inspect installation sites and study work orders, building plans, and installation manuals to determine materials requirements and installation procedures.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning lighting systems and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Read contract drawings.
  • Troubleshoot EMS systems, smart breakers, and relays.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 8+ years of related experience.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check and drug test.
  • Must be committed to excellence and generate high-quality work.
  • Must consistently report to work on time, work well with other employees to accomplish a common goal, and maintain a safe work environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • OHSAS 10 certification.
  • Any other relevant certifications (e.g., Lift/Aerial Training).

Physical Abilities:

  • Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at various heights up to 60 feet and climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders.
  • Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis.
  • Have good vision (may be corrected), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • Use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools.

  • May be required to obtain or provide proof of flu shots or other vaccinations depending on customer requirements and the nature of the position.
