Job Summary

As a Licensed Vocational Nurse with ResCare Community Living, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care to individuals with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities

Provide routine care and general observation of client health status
Assist Registered Nurses and physicians with treatments and communicate with clients and their families
Report changes in condition and additional client needs to supervisor
Communicate health and nursing needs to RN supervisor
Coordinate admissions, discharges, and follow-up as needed
Assist with medical appointments and ensure provision of nursing services under RN direction
Take and record vital signs, weights, and wound measurements, identifying trends outside of parameters
Report pertinent information to attending physician and healthcare professionals
Ensure provision of needed adaptive equipment
Administer medications, verify correct medications, and document client response
Work closely with home, facility, and pharmacy staff on medication reviews and side effects
Order, review, and monitor medications as ordered by physician
Maintain accurate Medication Administration Records (MARs) and check medication cabinets regularly
Return completed med cards and expired medications as applicable
Ensure health status, care, and services are documented accurately and timely
Provide supervision and education to non-licensed staff and report changes
Complete quarterly nursing evaluations and refer to physician as needed
Participate in clinics, on-call duties, and quality improvement activities

Requirements

Completion of a state-approved training program
Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN) in good standing
CPR certification
At least 6 months of direct nursing experience
Experience in providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities preferred
Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
Ability to use a computer and communicate with all levels of personnel
