Position Overview
As an Outside Food Sales Representative, you will build relationships, develop new business opportunities, and provide innovative solutions to our clients, helping them achieve their objectives and, in turn, yours.

Training Location
Training will take place in Gaylord, MI.

Position Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED is required.
- A Bachelor's degree and/or culinary certificate is preferred.
- 1-3 years of previous food service sales or restaurant management experience (front of the house).
- Willingness to relocate or consider other territories.
- Must maintain a valid state driver's license and a safe driving record.

Role Responsibilities
As an Outside Food Sales Representative, you will be responsible for the overall sales and relationship management efforts for existing and prospective clients within your assigned territory. This includes:

  • Pursuing New Clients:
    - Researching industry and market trends affecting restaurants in your territory.
    - Identifying and researching potential clients within your territory.
    - Developing sales strategies that showcase products, services, values, and solutions offered by Gordon Food Service and presenting these strategies to potential clients.
  • Strengthening Existing Client Relationships:
    - Regularly visiting all clients within the assigned territory.
    - Conducting business reviews to assess existing clients' needs and identify areas for sales growth.
    - Providing ongoing training to clients on Gordon Food Service product offerings.
    - Identifying opportunities within existing clients' businesses where Gordon Food Service can add value through products and services.
  • Sales Territory Management:
    - Balancing new client acquisition with strengthening existing client relationships.
    - Coordinating visits to both prospective and existing clients.
    - Communicating order status and processing updates to clients.

Sales Training
Gordon Food Service's goal during your initial training period is to set you up for success. This includes engaging you in various training offerings, such as e-learning, classroom sessions, video roleplays, job shadowing, and mentorship from experienced sales representatives.

Throughout your training, you will learn:
- How to utilize Gordon Food Service systems, processes, and tools to manage client relationships.
- About the products available to Gordon Food Service clients.
- The sales process for engaging new clients.
- How to establish your relationships within the extensive network of resources available to you as a Gordon Food Service sales representative.
- Best practices for developing relationships with current and prospective clients.
- Strategies for effectively managing your territory.
