Control Room Operator

The Control Room Operator is a critical member of our team, responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our power generation facilities. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Monitor and control the operation of power generation systems, including steam generation, condensate, feed water, turbine/generator, and electrical systems.
- Read and interpret meters, gauges, recorders, and annunciators to determine system operating conditions and take corrective action as needed.
- Adjust and monitor temperatures, pressures, flows, and levels on station primary system components to optimize plant performance.
- Initiate and conduct periodic surveillance, tests, and operating safety checks on equipment to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate logs and calculations, and notify supervisors of abnormal system conditions or equipment malfunctions.
- Monitor the operability of fire protection systems, emergency backup equipment, and electrical supply equipment associated with station systems and components.
- Accurately read and record data, and report equipment malfunctions or trends that indicate possible equipment danger.
- Identify and correct abnormal operating conditions or emergency situations, and provide leadership and guidance to other operators as needed.
- At least three years of experience with high-pressure boilers and electric generating equipment, or formal technical training and a High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Strong leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to stay alert while sitting for long periods of time.
- Basic computer, oral, and written communication skills, with problem-solving and decision-making ability.
- Ability to read Blueprints, P&IDs, and understand schematic specifications and vendor technical manuals.
- Ability to work on a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, and work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work in all locations within the plant, under extremes of hot and cold, and in areas of dust, noise, and wet conditions.
