Job Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) at Albany Area Primary Health Care works under the supervision of the Director of Nursing and Specialty Services Director to provide quality care and complete patient safety in the Turner Elementary School Based Health Center.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Performs a variety of general health and clerical procedures, including appointment scheduling, phone screening, and data entry.

2. Assists with examinations and procedures, takes vital signs, and prepares patients for physician examination and treatment.

3. Maintains accurate and efficient clinical records, prepares exam rooms, and ensures a clean and safe environment.

4. Provides patient education, documents patient education in the electronic medical record, and demonstrates patient advocacy.

5. Answers and directs incoming calls, takes messages, and gives routine information in accordance with established procedures.

Requirements:

High school diploma, graduation from a technical college program, and current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification are required. Knowledge of pediatrics, organizational policies, and computer systems is essential. Good communication skills and the ability to act calmly in stressful situations are also required.

Working Conditions:

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, and other conditions common to a clinic environment is expected. The ability to work irregular hours and stay late as required to complete daily processes is also necessary.
