Process Engineer - East Plant
This is a full-time, exempt level position.
Position Summary:
The East Plant is in search of a process engineer equipped with the expertise to enhance and refine our operational procedures. The facility specializes in producing soy protein ingredients for both human and animal consumption.
As an integral member of the production team, this role offers the chance to collaborate with fellow engineers to drive operational excellence and support the development of new products. Responsibilities include spearheading process enhancements across all operational aspects, contributing directly to project development from initial concept through to implementation, while applying engineering principles to troubleshoot and optimize both chemical and mechanical processes. Additionally, this position involves assisting in the management of daily operations, monitoring departmental costs, yields, quality, and overall process performance.
This role presents an exciting opportunity for a new engineer to join the management team and positively influence the success of our nutrition division. Process engineers will gain valuable experience in employee leadership, equipment troubleshooting, and navigating the diverse challenges faced in a facility that operates continuously throughout the year.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify and lead improvement initiatives within their designated area.
- Assess safety and environmental requirements, ensuring they are integrated into facility modifications.
- Evaluate existing processes for potential cost savings, reliability, and performance enhancements.
- Collaborate with maintenance, controls, process, and quality teams to plan and develop process improvements.
- Support daily operations, including providing shift coverage as necessary.
- Train and mentor colleagues.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in plant operations.
- Proven problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, essential for creating reports and presentations for stakeholders.
- Ability to manage personnel and collaborate across various company functions.
- Capacity to anticipate challenges and devise effective solutions.
- General knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and materials related to assigned equipment and processes.
- Effective interaction with multiple employees and managers to prioritize tasks.
- Demonstrated organizational skills to manage multiple ongoing projects.
- Active participation in safety, environmental, and quality initiatives is expected to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Assist in the development of colleagues through training and technical support.
