Job Title: Behavioral and Mental Health Tech

Job Summary:

UnityPoint Health is seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Behavioral and Mental Health Tech to join our team. As a key member of our Intensive Residential Support Home, you will play a vital role in delivering hands-on intensive rehabilitation services to adults with mental health, behavioral health, intellectual disabilities, or co-occurring conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist individuals with medication adherence, appointment compliance, comprehension, crisis planning, behavior modification, and skill building.
  • Provide person-centered, strength-based, and trauma-informed care to support individuals in stabilizing and reintegrating into the community.
  • Develop and implement individualized service plans centered around the person's needs, developed collaboratively with the service seeker.
  • Engage in consultation and collaboration with the individual's additional professional support resources.
  • Recognize early signs and symptoms of physical and mental illness, and perform appropriate interventions and/or referrals in accordance with the identified crisis plan.
  • Provide support and interventions to assist with crisis de-escalation, and provide education regarding available supports, such as Warn Line and 988 Crisis Line.
  • Assist individuals in working toward full community integration, including connecting individuals to and participating in community resources and leisure activities, spiritual health, financial health, and other areas of interest as identified by the person-centered plan.
  • Complete housekeeping and home maintenance tasks as identified in the daily, weekly, and monthly checklists.
  • Make referrals on behalf of individuals served based on needs and preferences, and assist with following up on referrals and ensuring needed services are received.
  • Assist individuals in the development of natural supports within the community.
  • Assist individuals in connecting with community resources and support for successful transition and discharge, and support individuals in the discharge planning process.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • Bachelor's degree in a human services related field (including psychology, social work, nursing or education)
  • One Year Experience in Behavioral or Mental Health
  • Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons
  • Successful completion of minimum 30 hours of crisis management and de-escalation training within the first year of service provision
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Understands, follows, and advocates for individual's rights; Possess strong de-escalation and crisis management skills, and ability to effectively manage emergency situations
