Job Summary

As a Clinical Instructor, you will be responsible for overseeing student clinical rotations in the Greater Portland area and contributing to the education of students in the ABSN program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate effective student learning in the assigned clinical setting
  • Provide guidance for students in the clinical setting related to professionalism, practice, and research
  • Select and organize learning activities to facilitate student attainment of course objectives
  • Ensure effective evaluations of student practice
  • Promote evidence-based practice
  • Provide a supportive learning environment by providing feedback on student progress to supervisory personnel
  • Collaborate with other faculty, administration, and healthcare partners and their staff
  • Attend required orientation, training, and faculty meetings

Requirements

  • Clinical Competence: Ability to function with professional accountability in clinical settings
  • Teaching Competence: Ability to create a climate conducive to positive student learning
  • Technology Competence: Ability to use computer technology (Word, PowerPoint, email, and internet) at a minimum
  • Practice: Minimum of two years of successful clinical nursing practice
  • Teaching experience: None required; prefer a minimum of two years of teaching experience
  • Education and Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in nursing required, Master's preferred
  • Current unencumbered RN license in Washington or Oregon
  • Able to work 12-hour shifts in a clinical setting if required
