Job Summary

The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) plays a vital role in the healthcare team, providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the overall success of the Veterans Health Administration. As a LPN, you will work closely with patients, families, and healthcare professionals to deliver compassionate and individualized care.

Responsibilities
  • Provide primary nursing care to assigned patients, including administering medications, performing treatments, and documenting patient information.
  • Collaborate with RNs and MDs/DOs to develop and implement patient care plans, including education and support for patients and families.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' physical and emotional needs, identifying areas for improvement and developing strategies for care.
  • Develop and implement patient education programs, including health promotion, disease prevention, and management of chronic conditions.
  • Participate in emergency response situations, including cardiac and pulmonary arrest, and provide life-saving interventions as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, including medication administration, treatments, and patient responses.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals, using active listening and clear, concise language.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, promoting teamwork and collaboration among healthcare professionals.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited LPN/LVN program.
  • Current, active, and unrestricted licensure as a LPN/LVN in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or District of Columbia.
  • One year of experience as a LPN/LVN, with a focus on primary care, mental health, or eye clinic settings.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two to three years of experience as a LPN/LVN, with a focus on primary care.
  • Experience working in a Veterans Health Administration setting.
  • Knowledge of electronic health records and other healthcare technologies.
