Job Summary:

As a key member of the City of Norfolks Department of Public Works, the Equipment Operator II plays a vital role in maintaining the city's infrastructure. This position involves operating heavy construction equipment and participating in the routine functions of an operational storm water crew. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient operation of the city's storm water system, street network, and waste management and recycling systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate heavy construction equipment, including but not limited to, backhoes, excavators, and bulldozers.
  • Participate in routine maintenance and repair of storm water infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless operation of the city's infrastructure.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2+ years of experience in heavy equipment operation or a related field.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
