About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Cook to join our team at KinderCare Learning Companies in Southaven, Mississippi. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing healthy and delicious meals for our children, ensuring they have the fuel they need to learn and grow.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks, following established menus and recipes.
  • Order food and supplies, ensuring timely delivery and inventory management.
  • Dispense and store medication, as required, and complete accurate documentation.
  • Support center staff and leadership in achieving goals around enrollment, accreditation, and engagement.
Qualifications
  • Familiarity with food safety and handling procedures, including food allergies and cross-contamination avoidance.
  • Ability to follow menus and prepare sufficient quantities of food for the center population.
  • Basic math skills for measuring and calculating serving portions.
  • Possession of a Food Handler's License or willingness to obtain.
  • At least one year of institutional cooking experience, with food ordering experience highly desirable.
  • Two or more years of experience working with children, highly desirable.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 40 pounds and use a computer with basic proficiency.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to read, write, understand, and speak English.
