About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Representative to join our team at UnitedHealth Group. As a Patient Access Representative, you will play a critical role in ensuring that our patients receive high-quality, compassionate care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet visitors and patients in person, or communicate by telephone, upholding excellent customer service
  • Enter and update patient demographic and financial information, ensuring the patient is fully registered as early in the process as possible
  • Obtain appropriate applications and forms, confirming signatures are on file
  • Photocopy/scanning documents as needed
  • Provide patients with financial responsibility information and collect patient liabilities, documents amounts in the appropriate fields, and balance the cash box daily
  • Work with partnering departments (Financial Counseling, Scheduling, Financial Clearance, and clinical areas) to ensure all aspects of the patient's encounter are completed as needed
  • Provide wayfinding instructions and assist with hospital information as requested
  • Coordinate patient admission needs, bed assignments, and tracking boards where applicable
  • Meet or exceed audit accuracy standards
Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
  • 6+ months of experience in an office setting, customer service setting (over the phone or face to face), phone support role, or call center environment
  • Intermediate level of proficiency with Windows applications
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week)
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1+ years of registration experience in a hospital or medical setting
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Working knowledge of insurance policies and procedures and patient care settings
