Job Summary

Houston Methodist Specialty Physician Group is seeking a highly skilled EEG Technician to join our team. As an EEG Technician, you will be responsible for performing routine, ambulatory, and long-term monitoring electroencephalograms (EEG), as well as visual, brainstem, and somatosensory evoked potential (EP) procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Expertise: Perform EEG and EP procedures with precision and accuracy, adhering to hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Patient Care: Provide exceptional patient care, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients undergoing EEG and EP procedures.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to convey the purpose of procedures and answer questions.
  • Quality and Safety: Ensure correct electrode application, recognize clinically significant events, and maintain patient safety through effective communication with other patient care support staff.
  • Documentation: Accurately document patient procedures, charges, and other relevant information in a timely manner.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent, with completion of an accredited Electroneurodiagnostic END program or an Associate's degree or higher in a science-related field.
  • Experience: Six months of experience in the performance of END procedures in a patient care environment or successful completion of all clinicals required by and through an approved Electroneurodiagnostic END program.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge and Skills: Possess basic computer knowledge to operate necessary computer systems and software, including data entry, document printing, and scanning. Exhibit strong interpersonal and team player skills with all levels of the healthcare team.
  • Language: Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary to perform the essential functions of this job.
