In this role as a Radiology Technologist at Advocate Aurora Health, you will play a vital part in the delivery of quality patient care. We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team in Streamwood, Illinois.

About the Job:
The Radiology Technologist is responsible for determining the appropriate radiological technique and position for patients using immobilization and support devices. You will operate radiology equipment safely and effectively, ensuring high-quality images for radiologists to interpret.

Main Responsibilities:
1. Position patients and adjust equipment to perform procedures while maintaining tactful patient care.
2. Determine the best radiographic technique based on anatomy and patient condition to obtain quality films.
3. Secure patient history regarding reasons for prescribed tests.

You will adhere to all accepted safety standards and practices to ensure patient safety and quality care. This includes:
1. Using universal precautions during daily procedures.
2. Maintaining compliance with established safety standards to protect patients and staff at all times.
3. Keeping exposure badges up-to-date.
4. Maintaining cleanliness and supplies in assigned rooms daily.
5. Administering CPR as necessary.
6. Ensuring accuracy of examinations performed and requisitions.
7. Familiarizing yourself with MSDS information related to chemicals used in the department.
8. Performing clerical duties like maintaining patient records, statistics, answering phones, scheduling exams, and giving instructions to patients.
9. Communicating with patients appropriately and providing excellent care.
10. Performing other duties as assigned.

Quality Control and Coordination:
You will be responsible for inventorying supplies, maintaining adequate stock, labeling radiology images according to department standards, preparing contrast media, performing sensitometry of processors, checking film quality, and more.

Education and Qualifications:
This role requires an IDNS license, graduation from an accredited AMA School of Radiology, and knowledge of Health Information Systems. You should have basic knowledge of radiology equipment and hold certifications such as CPR and registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
You must be able to make independent professional decisions, possess high technical skills, and work with minimal assistance. Ability to lift and move patients, deal with extremely ill patients, and work under stressful conditions are essential. Exposure to hazardous materials and life-threatening diseases may occur. You must also be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the site.
