Position Overview:

This role involves collaborating with Wealth Advisors and internal client teams to address the distinct requirements of Wilmington Trust's ultra-high net worth (UHNW) clientele. The individual will work closely with Wealth Advisors to create and implement tailored wealth strategies for UHNW clients and families, utilizing the full spectrum of the organization's offerings. The focus is on delivering a personalized UHNW client experience that aligns with individual client preferences. Additionally, this position may include mentoring and guiding Client Advisors as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Wealth Advisors to formulate and implement strategic wealth plans during the prospecting and onboarding phases for UHNW clients.
  • Act as a joint primary contact alongside Wealth Advisors to oversee all facets of client relationships, emphasizing high satisfaction and retention rates. Manage ongoing needs assessments for UHNW clients with investable assets exceeding $50 million.
  • Uphold Wilmington Trust's service excellence standards across all interactions, ensuring a world-class client experience.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with clients' internal teams and external advisors to facilitate the coordinated execution of wealth strategies.
  • Possess a comprehensive understanding of Wilmington Trust's products and services, leveraging them to meet client needs effectively.
  • Develop deep client relationships through regular interactions and participation in select events designed to enhance client engagement.
  • Coordinate appropriate executive involvement across client relationships to aid in the retention of UHNW clients.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to Client Advisors when needed.
  • Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships by proactively reviewing client portfolios, including assets held elsewhere, to consolidate client liquidity with Wilmington Trust or introduce additional value-added services.
  • Engage in Wealth Advisor-led client prospecting initiatives to foster growth within the ultra-high net worth segment.
  • Adhere to the Company's risk management and regulatory standards, policies, and controls, escalating any risk-related issues to management as necessary.
  • Promote a diverse and inclusive environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control standards, including the timely resolution of audit findings and issues raised by regulators.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Scope of Responsibilities:

This position serves as the primary contact for UHNW clients, defined as those with over $50 million in investable assets, representing the top 5-10% of client relationships within the organization, with the primary objectives of retaining and expanding these relationships.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or a combined minimum of 11 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 7 years of relevant experience.

Extensive expertise in planning, investments, banking, and fiduciary services.

Previous experience managing complex UHNW client relationships.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Strong influencing capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

MBA (Master's in Business Administration).

A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.

Certifications such as Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Certified Trust & Financial Advisor (CTFA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), and/or Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

M&T Bank is dedicated to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation for our employees. The compensation range for this position is $159,000 to $265,950.31 annually (USD). The successful candidate's specific combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will determine their individual compensation.
