The World of Little League Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store is seeking a dedicated Part-Time Seasonal Museum Associate. This role offers a competitive pay rate of $12 per hour with flexible working hours from 9 AM to 4 PM, including weekends to enhance visitor experience. This is a non-exempt role under the supervision of the Director of the Museum. Candidates will be subject to background checks as part of the hiring process. Comprehensive training will be provided to the selected candidate.
ABOUT THE MUSEUM
Located in South Williamsport, Pennsylvania, the World of Little League Peter J. McGovern Museum and Official Store aims to educate visitors about the rich history and contributions of Little League Baseball and Softball. The museum showcases how Little League has influenced both U.S. and global history, emphasizing its leadership in participant engagement and sports safety. Visitors can enjoy a self-guided tour that follows the structure of a Little League game, featuring authentic artifacts, engaging interactive displays, and multimedia presentations that reflect the core mission of Little League: to harness the power of youth sports to foster personal growth and community development.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Part-Time Seasonal Museum Associate, your daily tasks will include:
- Preparing the museum for daily visitors.
- Providing assistance to museum guests by answering inquiries and offering guided tours.
- Supporting full-time staff with various museum initiatives and projects.
- Performing light administrative tasks.
- Assisting with merchandise sales.
Through these responsibilities, you will contribute to the mission of promoting Little League Baseball and Softball within the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
- A positive demeanor and eagerness to learn.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to engage with diverse age groups.
- Proficiency in computer applications, particularly MS Office.
- Experience with point-of-sale systems is advantageous.
- Capacity to follow directions accurately.
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform bending and stooping tasks.
- Current pursuit of a degree in History or a related field is preferred, or a genuine interest in historical subjects.
- Availability to work on weekends is essential.
