Job Description

Job Summary:

The Field Engineer provides critical support to the Project Engineer and the Project Superintendent. Key responsibilities include production tracking, operational planning, communication, organization, implementation, and data tracking for project success.


Key Responsibilities:
  1. Collaboration and Planning: Work closely with foremen and superintendents to ensure work plans are tracked and analyzed for maximum efficiency in field operations.
  2. Quantities and Reporting: Develop, maintain, and report daily quantities installed and performed.
  3. Analysis and Comparison: Analyze and compare budgeted vs actual production rates and yield in materials.
  4. Quantity Take-Offs: Perform quantity take-offs from plans and contrast weekly field quantities and plan quantities.
  5. Work Activity Planning: Assist in the development of Work Activity Plans.
  6. Quantity Verification: Provide monthly quantity reports for verification of owner quantities and monthly billing.
  7. Field Operations: Assist in ensuring that field work is being constructed within project standards and specifications.
  8. Project Support: Provide support for project engineers and superintendents as required.
  9. Document Management: Maintain and organize Plan Drawings, Revisions, and As-Builts.
  10. Project Logs: Assist in maintaining all Project Logs.
  11. Material Budgeting: Assess, compare, and monitor quantities ordered with materials budgeted.
  12. Field Operations Reports: Maintain the Notevault Diary and provide schedule updates to the Project Engineer.
  13. Schedule Development: Develop Look Ahead Schedules with the project superintendent.
  14. Communication: Present information effectively in one-on-one and small group situations including managers and employees.
  15. Document Interpretation: Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, Operating and Maintenance Instructions, Procedure Manuals, Contracts, Subcontracts, and Purchase Orders.
  16. Additional Responsibilities: Other unlisted duties will be assigned.

Requirements:
  1. Education: Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Software Proficiency: Moderate to high level of proficiency operating Primavera 3 and 6.
  3. Microsoft Office: Moderate to high level of proficiency operating MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS Word, and MS PowerPoint.
  4. Communication: Be able to communicate in English via verbal and written communications.
  5. Problem-Solving: A demonstrated ability to multi-task, be a self-starter, and have a passion for construction and a job well done.
  6. Mathematical Skills: Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and utilize Construction Math concepts.
  7. Driver's License: Valid driver's license for occasional, required travel.
  8. Critical Thinking: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  9. Technical Skills: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with abstract and concrete variables.
  10. Physical Demands: Moderate physical activity performing somewhat strenuous daily activities of a primarily administrative nature. Some exposure to outdoors with changing weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind.
  11. Physical Abilities: Ability to physically maneuver by foot minor obstacles at construction projects.
  12. Manual Dexterity: Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers.
