OBJECTIVE:

The Commercial Vehicle Operator is tasked with the secure and punctual transportation of solar panels and associated materials to various distribution hubs, project locations, and clients. This position is vital to the logistics chain, ensuring that products arrive in optimal condition, thereby facilitating the installation and operational schedules of solar energy initiatives. The operator is expected to uphold exemplary standards of safety, efficiency, and customer engagement while representing the organization professionally during transit and at delivery sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain Electronic Driver Logs and conduct thorough Pre-Trip and Post-Trip inspections of the vehicle.
  • Adhere to DOT regulations, including random drug and alcohol testing.
  • Deliver exceptional service to clients through effective communication during the unloading process.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of all company products and services.
  • Ensure accurate loading of the vehicle, checking for order accuracy, weight compliance, and secure load placement.
  • Keep precise records for submission to the Fleet Department.
  • Report any mechanical issues promptly to the Fleet Department to ensure vehicle safety.
  • Utilize proper safety equipment, including hard hats and steel-toed footwear.
  • Respond immediately to any incidents involving property damage or personal injury, including seeking medical assistance when necessary.
  • Perform warehouse tasks such as picking, packing, and shipping as required.
  • Operate warehouse forklifts for inventory management.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience operating a Truck Mounted Forklift (TMF) is essential.
  • A minimum of 2 years of driving experience with the relevant equipment (combination vehicle with flatbed and TMF).
  • Familiarity with DOT legal strapping standards.
  • Basic proficiency in English (reading and writing).
  • Highly organized and self-motivated.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Strong listening, reading, verbal, and written communication abilities.
  • Capable of problem-solving with a keen attention to detail and effective time management.
  • Basic math skills for calculations in various units of measure.
  • Able to build relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Basic technical skills for data entry and communication.
  • Must be able to perform all essential duties effectively; reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • A valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License and DOT Medical Card are mandatory.
  • Forklift Training/Certification is advantageous.
  • Truck Mounted Forklift Training/Certification is required.
  • Familiarity with Samsara software for managing Electronic Driver Logs and inspections is a plus.
  • Must maintain a satisfactory driving record as per company policy.
  • Must successfully complete all DOT requirements, including physical examinations and drug screenings.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this role, the employee is:

  • Regularly required to sit, communicate, perform repetitive motions, and hear.
  • Able to move 2,500 lbs using a pallet jack.
  • Occasionally required to bend, kneel, crouch, climb stairs, and reach overhead.
  • Occasionally and repeatedly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and up to 150 pounds with assistance.
  • Required to have specific vision abilities, including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Willingness to travel between 5% to 10% of the time.
