Generac Power Systems is seeking a Mechanical Component Quality Assurance Specialist to join our team.

This role will serve as the technical conduit between Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering to drive scale-readiness in a growing family of solar energy storage products.

The successful candidate will be responsible for all mechanical parts quality aspects that are utilized in power conversion and energy storage products with warranties of up to 25 years.

This position is based out of Reno, NV and may require up to 30/40% travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Align product quality targets to expected product performance and reliability.
  • Own product(s) from the mechanical parts quality perspective.
  • Generate and execute the mechanical parts quality plan for new products.
  • Coordinate and execute Contract Manufacturer quality audits.
  • Develop Quality Requirements Specifications for high reliability products.
  • Provide critical inputs on inspection methods and process choices.
  • Participate in DFMEA and DFM activities.
  • Review PFMEA process and align it towards ensuring quality build in production.
  • Lead and enforce PPAP and assure tools and processes are effective.
  • Qualify equipment installation and setup.
  • Lead and drive all 8D SCAR activities.
  • Participate in Corrective Action and Preventative Action processes.
  • Proficient user of Engineering Change Control tools.
  • Coordinate with engineering design and Manufacturing Engineering teams.
  • Monitor adherence to quality and safety certification standards.
  • Working knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing GD&T.
  • Knowledge of engineering design tools like Solid works, Creo.
  • Knowledge of Casting, Molding, stamping and ability to perform CTQ analysis.
  • Reviewing mechanical parts drawings and identifying gaps.
  • Creating quality documentations and ensuring CM is utilizing it for record keeping.
  • Develop and own quality performance metrics.
  • Procuring quotes and scheduling environmental testing.
  • Coordinate with suppliers on parts quality and defect analysis.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business or Industrial Technology or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of manufacturing of high reliability electronic, electromechanical or products with a focus on quality management.
  • Strong experience with solder chemistries/processing, electronics cleaning and cleanliness validation processes, conformal coating and potting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Power electronics, consumer electronics or commercial electronics background.
  • Experience working with international companies and in a matrix organization.
  • Proven experience collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions.
  • Prior experience with hardware certification standards.
  • Mechanical and thermal analysis.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles.
  • Six Sigma green or black belt.
  • PCB materials and manufacturing.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
