Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Scrub Technician to join our team at UC Davis Health System. As a Senior Scrub Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and effective conduct of surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical support to surgeons and other medical staff during surgical procedures.
  • Prepare and maintain surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Assist with patient care and positioning during surgery.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure a smooth and efficient surgical process.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and safety.
Requirements
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UCDH CPR certification.
  • Graduate of an Associate Degree or Vocational Training Program in Surgical Technology.
  • 1 year work experience in an Operating Room participating as a Scrub Technologist across a wide variety of complex surgeries.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical and surgical terminology.
  • Knowledge, skills and experience in assigned surgical specialty area and shift.
  • Knowledge and understanding of AST standards and recommended practices (Association of Surgical Technologists).
  • Knowledge and understanding of CORT guidelines (Certified Operating Room Technician).
  • Knowledge and understanding of AORN standards and recommended practices (Association of Operating Room Nurses).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certified Scrub Technologists (CST) from National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) or the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT).
  • 1 year work experience in Surgical Technology at a Level 1 or Level 2 Trauma Center Operating Room.
Working Conditions

This position is directly responsible for providing support to Perioperative Services locations across UC Davis Health. The work environment is fast-paced and requires the ability to work effectively in a team setting.
