We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer III to join our team at Garnet River. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to design, develop, and implement engineering projects. As a Mechanical Engineer III, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, provide support to teammates, and contribute to innovative solutions that meet both technical and business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Technical

  • Apply advanced engineering principles, material properties, and other applicable engineering concepts to deliver high-quality results.
  • Maintain knowledge of all applicable codes, safety requirements, and other standards to ensure compliance.
  • Prepare working drawings and specifications, and perform detailed calculations for projects of increasing difficulty.
  • Review and approve technical reports prepared by junior engineers.
  • Utilize relevant design and analytical software to drive project success.
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Communicate technical concepts effectively, both verbally and in written form.

Project Management

  • Provide technical expertise and advise clients on best solutions and recommendations in design.
  • Understand the scope of services as outlined in project contracts and identify when client requests are out of scope.
  • Analyze project constraints in schedule, scope, and budget to add value through proposed solutions.
  • Monitor project deadlines and deliverables within your responsibilities.
  • Leverage combined knowledge of planning, design delivery, and construction completion to make informed recommendations to clients.
  • Direct staff towards project milestones and ensure timely completion.
  • Develop rapport with clients through active listening and effective communication.
  • Visit project sites, attend meetings with clients, architects, and engineers.
  • Prepare status updates on assigned tasks.

Business Development

  • Build professional connections through local networking events.
  • Maintain relevant knowledge expected from clients through continuous learning.
  • Work with junior technical staff to develop technical documentation for proposals and presentations.

Leadership/Management

  • Support other engineering staff with technical questions and meeting deadlines, communicating any concerns or challenges to leadership.
  • Continuously improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and provide high-quality customer service.
  • Maintain a people-first approach and entrepreneurial initiative, developing an understanding of risk management and business impact when implementing process improvements.
  • Understand how work impacts the larger goals and strategic initiatives of the firm.
  • Continuously educate yourself to remain competitive with the latest technologies and practices, training newly hired staff and assisting with the development of staff through day-to-day interactions and informal mentorship.

Financial Acumen

  • Understand accurate timekeeping and its importance for project performance and budgets, assisting management with monitoring due dates and utilization of resources for project profitability.
  • Understand how much time is available to complete each project.

Client Service

  • Interact professionally both internally and externally.
  • Exhibit a balance of self-confidence and humility, cultivating and gaining trust through active listening and being a team player.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years of experience preferred.
  • Engineer in Training.
  • Ability to use engineering software and Microsoft Suite products.
  • Ability to travel occasionally.

Salary Range: $90,000-110,000
