Armed Security Officer

Job Summary:

Bering Straits Native Corporation (BSNC) is seeking a qualified Armed Security Guard to join our team in the Eastern region of Washington State. As an Armed Security Guard, you will be responsible for conducting routine checks of various locations, performing guard duties, and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular checks of assigned locations, adjusting schedules as needed to accommodate unusual conditions.
• Perform guard duties, including testing and monitoring fire alarms, electronic security systems, and participating in emergency evacuation plans.
• Notify the Front Desk and emergency services in case of emergencies or incidents affecting Government interests.
• Report equipment malfunctions and potential fire hazards promptly.
• Handle lost and found articles, attempting to return property to rightful owners.
• Participate in quarterly emergency exercises to test responsiveness and knowledge of emergency procedures.
• Issue identification cards and manage visitor center operations.
• Assist with traffic operations and conduct rover foot patrols, responding to alarms and incidents as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum age requirement: 21 years old.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• U.S. citizenship.
• No previous revocation or denial of private investigator or security guard license.
• No felony convictions in any state or territory.
• No bankruptcy or documented financial distress in the past 48 months.
• No convictions for specified crimes, including illegal weapon possession and drug distribution.
• No engagement in unauthorized private investigation or security guard activities.
• Must possess a valid Security Guard License for the applying state.
• Pre-assignment evaluations, including background checks, employment verification, education verification, residence history, military service record, criminal record check, drug screening, credit report, and driving history.
• Basic knowledge of computerized access control and video monitoring systems.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:

• Proficiency with computer applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
• Ability to pass government required training, including bi-annual firearms qualifications and First Aid/CPR/AED Certification.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to meet and maintain a medical surveillance program requirement, including a mandatory annual medical physical.
• Must meet or surpass the 25th percentile in flexibility, upper body strength, and cardio-respiratory fitness.

Work Environment:

• Exposure to inclement weather, stand/sitting/walking for long periods, office environment, emergency situations, and other environment exposures.
