Job Summary:

The Weekend Program at UVA Health offers a unique opportunity for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers to work a weekend-only shift schedule with enhanced compensation. This 12-month commitment requires working 48 scheduled weekends in a 12-month period, beginning with the first shift worked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive echocardiograph imaging and exams
  • Demonstrate cognitive skills, technical skills, and knowledge required for Contrast Echocardiography (LVO Doppler enhancement, MCE shunt evaluation)
  • Meet the education and experience requirements for Echocardiography Sonographer certification with CCI or ARDMS
  • Hold RCS or RDCS with CCI or RCVT with ARDMS certification within 12 months of hire
  • Obtain American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base rate starts at $36.13 per hour
  • Position compensation range: $51.17 hourly

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Experience: No experience required; 2 years relevant experience preferred

Physical Demands:

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping and traveling, driving (occasionally for outreach clinics); reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: Manipulation of ultrasound transducer.

Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, radiation, and blood/body fluids disease.
